Conditions we treat
Venous Leg Ulcers.
Treated at the bedside, at home and in facilities across New York City, Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk.
What they are
The wound is on the skin. The problem is in the veins.
When leg veins stop moving blood well, fluid pools, skin stains and hardens, and shallow, weeping ulcers open, usually above the ankle. They are painful, they soak dressings, and they come back if only the surface gets treated. Real venous ulcer care means compression, done correctly and consistently, alongside the wound care itself.
Our clinicians manage both at the bedside: cleaning and dressing the wound, applying compression appropriate to the person's circulation, teaching the household how to manage between visits, and watching for the arterial disease that makes compression dangerous when missed. When swelling, drainage, or pain changes, we escalate to vascular partners rather than waiting out another month.
When to call
A leg wound that weeps through dressings. Skin around the ankle turning brown or hardening. Swelling that leaves deep sock marks. An ulcer that has been treated for weeks without getting smaller.
